Rizes Villas – Pylos
Set within a Mediterranean rural landscape, the project explores the design of a small complex of tourist residences that seeks to establish a quiet and respectful dialogue with its surroundings. The composition is articulated through a series of clear, stone-clad volumes, arranged with geometric precision and linked by semi-open spaces, courtyards, and linear paths. Rather than imposing itself on the site, the architecture unfolds as an extension of the landscape, framing views, light, and movement while reinforcing a sense of calm and privacy.
The design draws from the architectural language of local vernacular construction, reinterpreting its materiality and spatial logic through a contemporary and restrained approach. Stone surfaces, dark metal details, shaded outdoor living areas, and a carefully choreographed landscape strategy create a seamless transition between built form and nature. The project’s identity emerges through proportion, rhythm, and texture, expressing a contemporary Mediterranean character rooted in simplicity and permanence.
The interior design continues this narrative through a warm and understated spatial atmosphere. Clean lines, natural materials, and a muted palette define spaces that are both functional and quietly luxurious. Earth-toned surfaces, timber joinery, fabric-clad panels, and black metal accents introduce depth and tactility, while custom-designed built-in elements integrate storage, desks, and headboards with clarity and precision.
Particular attention was given to the experience of everyday living. In the private areas, the continuity of materials and the careful integration of lighting create a sense of intimacy and stillness. In the shared spaces, double-height volumes, internal visual connections, and generous glazed openings enhance spaciousness and allow daylight to penetrate deep into the interiors. The strong relationship with terraces, gardens, and pools reinforces the sense that interior and exterior spaces belong to a single architectural experience.
The result is a cohesive environment where architecture, interior design, and landscape are brought together in a language of restraint, material authenticity, and discreet elegance.
