“CASA TERRA” IERAPETRA

“CASA TERRA” is located in a coastal area east of Ierapetra in Crete. The work incorporates a simple plasticity of volumes, richness of details and contemporary aesthetics. Both the deep red color of the façade and the natural stone draw inspiration from the sea bay of Agia Fotia, towards which the site faces, and represent images of the natural landscape that has been elaborately sculpted by the salt water and the wind. The project responds harmoniously to the need for comfort and tranquility, while it is subtly embedded in its topographical context, maintaining the balance between built space and the natural environment. The house extends over two levels. On the ground floor, there are communal living areas that are developed both inside and outside around the pool. From the bedrooms on the first floor, the unobstructed view to the sea reveals the poetic character of the local nature. The simple design of “CASA TERRA” seeks a synergy between sun, view, privacy and leisure, creating different atmospheres for users to enjoy the warm climate of the island.
